Private Pilot Certificate

1/1/2011 — Earning your Private Pilot Certificate through flight training in New Orleans is easier than you expected. This certificate will allow you to fly anywhere in the country, day or night, as long as the weather is good.

Requirements

In order to be eligible to take the practical test you must first:

1) Be at least 17 years of age (you may begin training at any age, but must be 17 to earn your certificate)

2) Be able to read, speak, write, and understand the English language

3) Pass an FAA medical given by a designated FAA Aviation Medical Examiner (AME) - There are very few medical conditions which will disqualify you from private aviation. Only an AME can answer the question on if a certain condition will preclude you from flying.

4) Log at least 35 hours of flight (40 hours if in our part 61 program) of which at least:

a) 20 hours must be with an instructor ( you'll likely spend closer to 30)

b) 10 hours of solo flight

5) Pass the FAA Private Pilot Airman knowledge written test

FAA Practical Test

We will prepare you very thoroughly for your Private Pilot Practical test. By the time your are ready for this test, you will have rehearsed all required manuevers many times and will be at ease in the cockpit. The practical test consists of both an oral exam and also a flying portion, during which you'll demonstrate the flying skills that you will just have learned with us to an FAA designated examiner.

Our syllabus is especially designed to be efficient, yet fun, and several of our students are ready for their practical tests after the minimum required 40 hours.

Time Required For Training

Those looking to fly full time may finish our program in as little as three-four weeks.

Those who will be flying while also working other jobs can expect to finish in anywhere between three and six months, depending on their availability.

Scheduling

All flight training is done one-on-one with an FAA licensed instructor and we are available 24/7 to accomodate even the busiest customer work schedules
